Communion 4-6-2014

The New Testament

Matthew 26:28 …this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

To Betray God Is to Commune With Satan

Luke 22:3-6 Then entered Satan into Judas Iscariot, one of the of the twelve. He communed with the chief priests and leaders, how he might betray Jesus to them. They were glad, and covenanted to give him money. He promised, and sought opportunity to betray Jesus to them in the absence of the multitude.

Time & Actions Expose a False Disciple

Matthew 26:20-21 When evening came, Jesus was reclined at the table with the Twelve. While they were eating, He said,  “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray Me.”

To Betray Jesus; Is to Betray One’s Own Soul

Matthew 26:23-24 Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with Me will betray Me. The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

Betrayal is a Personal Sin

Matthew 26:25 Then Judas, the one who would betray Him, said, “Surely not I, Rabbi?” Jesus answered, “Yes, it is you.”

The Last Supper Is the Beginning of an Eternal Communion

Matthew 26:26  While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to His disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is My Body.”   See—Revelation 19:6-10

Only The New Covenant Forgives Sin

Matthew 26:27-28 Then He took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

The Last Supper Initiated The Wedding Feast of The Lamb

Matthew 26:29 I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s kingdom.”

The Last Supper Fulfilled the Promise of Passover

Matthew 26:30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

John 1:29-34  John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the One I meant when I said, ‘A Man who comes after me has surpassed me because He was before me.’ I myself did not know Him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that He might be revealed to Israel.” John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on Him. I would not have known Him, except that the One Who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The Man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is He who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God!”
