Messiah Promised
…and in His name all oppression shall cease!

 The Promised Messiah Was Expected.
John 1:40-41  Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah”

John 1:45  Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote–Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

John 4:25-26  The woman said, “I know that Messiah is coming, & when He comes, He will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am He.”

The Messiah is a Prophet Like Moses.
Deuteronomy 18:14-19  The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so. The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to Him …The Lord said to me: “…I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put My words in His mouth, and He will tell them everything I command Him. If anyone does not listen to My words that the Prophet speaks in My name, I Myself will call him to account.

When The Messiah Speaks; God Speaks.
John 8:28 — So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am the One I claim to be and that I do nothing on My own but speak just what the Father has taught Me.
John 12:49 — For I did not speak of My own accord, but the Father who sent Me commanded Me what to say and how to say it.

John 12:50 — I know that His command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told Me to say.”

The Messiah Is God’s Final Spokesman.
Hebrews 1:1-3  In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed Heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

The Promise of Messiah Will Bring Political Stability.
Genesis 49:10  The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until He comes to Whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is His.

Numbers 24:17  I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near. A Star will come out of Jacob; a Scepter will rise out of Israel.

The Messiah’s Sovereignty Will Be Worldwide.
Ps 72:8-11 — He will rule from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth. The desert tribes will bow before Him and His enemies will lick the dust. The kings of Tarshish and of distant shores will bring tribute to Him; the kings of Sheba and Seba will present Him gifts. All kings will bow down to Him and all nations will serve Him.

The Messiah Will Destroy The Enemy.
Genesis 3:15  I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will crush your head, and you will strike His heel.

Hebrews 2:14  Since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death–that is, the devil.

Messiah Promises TO FORGIVE ALL YOUR SIN!
Genesis 22:13-14 –Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide.

Zechariah 3:9b  …I will remove the sin of this land in a single day.

Daniel 9:24-27 — Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy.

1st Timothy 2:5-6  …there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men–the testimony given in its proper time.

Hebrews 9:26 …but now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

1st John 2:2  He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
