A Heart After The Heart Of God—Pt 2
I have found David son of Jesse a man after My own heart…

God Seeks For Committed Hearts!
2 Chronicles 16:7-9  Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, “Because you have relied on the king of Aram and have not relied on the LORD your God, therefore the army of the king of Aram has escaped out of your hand.  Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim an immense army with very many chariots and horsemen?  Yet because you relied on the LORD, He delivered them into your hand. For the eyes of the LORD move to and  fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. You have acted foolishly in this. From now on you will surely have wars.

The Greatest Command Asks For Total Commitment
Matthew 22:36-38  “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” He said to him, “ ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’  This is the greatest and foremost commandment, the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

The Greatest Commandment Is Not A New One
Deuteronomy 6:4-6  Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is One LORD:  Thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul and with all thy might. These words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart…

The New Covenant Opens The Heart To God In An Eternal Way
Jeremiah 31:33  This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel;  After those days, saith the LORD, I will put My law in their inward parts and write it in their hearts and will be their God and they shall be My people.

Matthew 26:26-28

Your Heart Must Be Fortified
Proverbs 4:20-23  My son, attend to my words;  incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them and health to all your flesh.  Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

The Heart Must Be Instructed
Proverbs 22:17-19  Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, apply your heart to knowledge;  For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; Let them all be fixed upon your lips, So that your trust may be in the LORD…

Becoming Wholehearted For God Requires Maximum Effort
Proverbs 2:1-9  My son, if thou wilt receive my words and hide my commandments within thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom and apply thine heart to understanding; If thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;   If thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God!

Wholeheartedness Protects Us From Sin
Psalm 119:9-11  Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to Thy Word. With my whole heart have I sought Thee!: O let me not wander from Thy commandments!  Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Ask The Lord To Open Your Heart
Acts 16:14-15  One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.”  And she persuaded us.

Psalm 61:1-8  Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to You, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the Rock that is higher than I. For You have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in Your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. For You have heard my vows, God; You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your Name. Increase the days of the king’s life, his years for many generations. May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him. Then will I ever sing praise to Your Name & fulfill my vows day after day.
