NO OTHER GOSPEL – Pt 5
…you are no longer a slave, but a son; since you are a son,
God has made you also an heir.

The PROMISE of GOD’S Blessing Is Christ
Galatians 3:15-16  Brothers, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case. The promises were spoken to Abraham & to his seed. The Scripture does not say “to seeds,” meaning many people, but “to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ.

God’s Promise Predates The Law Trumps The Law
Galatians 3:17-18  What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God & thus do away with the promise. For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God in His grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

The Law Was Added Because of Sin
Galatians 3:19  What then was the purpose of the law? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to Whom the promise referred had come.

The Law Depended On Two Parties Grace Depends On One
Galatians 3:20b-21  …The law was put into effect through angels by a mediator.  A mediator, however, does not represent just one party; but God is One.

Genesis 15:6-18

Exodus 19:3-8

Jeremiah 11:10

Jeremiah 22:8-9

Ezekiel 44:7

The Law Reveals Our Need For Grace!
Galatians 3:21-22  Is the law therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

In Grace We Have Graduated!
Galatians 3:23-25  But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith (the covenant of promise through Grace) which should afterwards be revealed.  Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

A Son Belongs To The Family Forever
Galatians 3:26-29  You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise.

John 8:34-36  “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. A slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Before Grace We Were Juveniles
Galatians 4:1-3  What I am saying is that as long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. So also, when we were children, we were in slavery under the basic principles of the world.

The Sons Of Grace Are The Heir’s Of God!
Galatians 4:4-7  But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but a son; since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.
