God Should Rank First In All We Do
Deuteronomy 6:4-5 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: Thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, & with all thy soul & with all thy might.
Deuteronomy 4:29 …if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find Him if you look for Him with all your heart and with all your soul!
The Lord Jesus Affirmed It As THE GREATEST COMMAND
Matthew 22:36-38 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart & with all your soul & with all your mind.’ This is the first & greatest commandment.
When We Place God First All Other Areas Of Life Follow Suit
Matthew 6:33 …seek ye first the kingdom of God & His righteousness; & all these things shall be added unto you.
We Cannot Commit To The Lord In Our Own Strength
Mark 14:29-31 Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I will not!” “I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “today–yes, tonight–before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown Me three times.” But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you!” All the others said the same.
Our Model Is Jesus
Hebrews 12:1-2 …lay aside every encumbrance & the sin which so easily entangles us & let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author & perfecter of faith, Who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame & sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Only Jesus Can Empower You To Live Like Jesus
John 14:16-18 If you love Me, you will do as I command. I will ask the Father & He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever– The Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you & will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Keep God First Even In The Worst Of Times
1st Peter 2:21-24 You have been called for this purpose, since Christ suffered for you, setting an example for you to follow in His steps, WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH; while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him Who judges righteously; He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin & live to righteousness;
You Must Make God Priority Over ALL RELATIONSHIPS
Luke 14:26 If anyone comes to me & does not hate father & mother, wife & children, brothers & sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be My disciple.
Trust In The Lord Even In Uncertainty
