The Light of The World Pt 2
John 8:31-59
The Light Of Jesus’ Word Frees Us From Spiritual Bondage
John 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, If ye continue in My word, then are ye My disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
We Tend To Trust In Our Own Heritage Instead Of The Word Of The Lord
John 8:33 They answered Him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
Our Deepest Need Is Freedom From Our Sin!
John 8:34-36 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
The Light Of Jesus’ Word Reveals The Darkness Of Our Sin Nature
John 8:37-40 I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill Me, because My Word hath no place in you. I speak that which I have seen with My Father: ye do that which ye have seen with your father. They answered saying unto Him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham. But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: Abraham did not do this.
Love For The GOD Of The Bible Always Reveals Love For Jesus
John 8:41-42 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to Him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God! Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, ye would love Me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of Myself, but HE sent Me!
The Impulse To Hate And Reject Jesus Is Satanically Originated
John 8:43-44 Why do ye not understand My speech? Because ye cannot hear My Word! Ye are of your father the devil and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it.
Those Who Reject The Word Of JESUS Are NOT OF GOD
John 8:45-47 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe Me not. Which of you convinceth Me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe Me? He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
The Lord Honored The Father By Reconciling All People
John 8:48-50 The Jews answered Him, “Aren’t we right in saying that You are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?” “I am not possessed by a demon,” said Jesus, “but I honor my Father and you dishonor Me. I am not seeking glory for Myself; but there is One Who seeks it, He is the judge.
God Is The God Of The Living (Matthew 22:32)
John 8:52-53 At this the Jews exclaimed, “Now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet You say that if anyone keeps Your word, he will never taste death! Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, so did the prophets; Who do You think You are?”
Being Found In Appearance As A Man, He Humbled Himself… (Philippians 2:8)
John 8:54-55 Jesus replied, “If I glorify Myself, My glory means nothing. My Father, Whom you claim as your God, is the One Who glorifies Me. Though you do not know Him, I know Him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know Him and keep His word.
Darkness Cannot Find The Light!
John 8:56-59 Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing My day; he saw it and was glad.” “You are not yet fifty years old,” the Jews said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!” “I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I Am!” At this, they picked up stones to stone Him, but Jesus hid Himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.
