The Exodus of God’s People Pt 1

The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, & announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: All nations will be blessed through you.” Galatians 3:8

The Story of God’s People Is for All People
Genesis 12:1-3  The LORD said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people & your father’s household & go to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation & I will bless you; I will make your name great, & you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, & whoever curses you I will curse; & all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

The Faith of Abraham Is The Faith of All Believers
Galatians 3:6-9  Consider Abraham: “He believed God, & it was credited to him as righteousness.” Understand, then, that those who believe (Christians) are children of Abraham. The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith,& announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

God’s Salvation for All People Came Through One People
John 4:22-24  You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.  God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

The Exodus of God’s People Instructs & Warns Us
Romans 15:4-6  …everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

1st Corinthians 10:11 …these things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come!

The Exodus of God’s People Was Foretold
Genesis 15:13-14  …the LORD said to Abraham, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, (Egypt) and they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years. But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions.

God is Forming a Family Through All of Human History
Ephesians 3:14  …I kneel before the Father, from Whom His whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name…

2nd Timothy 2:19  God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are His,” &, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”

God Uses Families & Individuals To Accomplish His Purposes
Exodus 1:1-5  These are the names of the sons of Israel who went to Egypt with Jacob, each with his family: Reuben, Simeon, Levi and Judah; Issachar, Zebulun and Benjamin; Dan and Naphtali; Gad and Asher. The descendants of Jacob numbered seventy in all; Joseph was already in Egypt.

God Loves Family Growth
Exodus 1:6-7  Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died, but the Israelites were fruitful and multiplied greatly and became exceedingly numerous, so that the land was filled with them.

Genesis 1:28; Genesis 9:1

Growth Is Perceived As A Threat To Some
Exodus 1:8-10  Then a new king, who did not know about Joseph, came to power in Egypt. “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become much too numerous for us. Come, we must deal shrewdly with them or they will become even more numerous and, if war breaks out, will join our enemies, fight against us and leave the country.”

Political Solutions to Social Problems Often Result in Human Oppression
Exodus 1:11-14  So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh. But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites and worked them ruthlessly. They made their lives bitter with hard labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their hard labor the Egyptians used them ruthlessly.

Faith Rejects Compliance With Ungodly Laws
Exodus 1:15-17  The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah, “When you help the Hebrew women in childbirth & observe them on the delivery stool, if it is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.” The midwives, however, feared God & did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live.

Genesis 18:19

God Rewards Right Behavior The World Criticizes It
Exodus 1:18-21  The king of Egypt summoned the midwives & asked them, “Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?” The midwives answered Pharaoh, “Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they are vigorous & give birth before the midwives arrive.” So God was kind to the midwives & the people increased & became even more numerous. Because the midwives feared God, He gave them families of their own.

Satanic Designs Are Always Destructive
Exodus 1:22  Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: “Every boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live.

John 8:43-47
