The Importance of Jesus’ Resurrection
1 Corinthians 15:14  …if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith!

The Gospel Message Is The Foundation On Which Salvation Rests
1 Corinthians 15:1-2  Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

The Gospel Message Is Based Upon Christ’s Death, Burial And Resurrection
1 Corinthians 15:3-4  For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…

What Scriptures Tell Of His Passion and Resurrection?
Matthew 4:4  Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'”

John 1:1 and 14  In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God… The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us…

Luke 24:5-8  In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the angels said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?  He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you, while He was still with you in Galilee:  ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again?‘” Then they remembered His Words.

Mark 8:31  He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law and that He must be killed and after three days rise again.

Mark 9:7-10  …a cloud appeared and enveloped them and a voice came from the cloud: “This is My Son, Whom I love. Listen to Him!” Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus. As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. They kept the matter private and wondered what “rising from the dead” meant…

Mark 9:31-32  …He said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill Him and after three days He will rise.” But they did not understand what He meant and were afraid to ask Him about it.

Mark 10:32-34  …He took the Twelve aside and told them what was going to happen to Him. “We are going up to Jerusalem,” He said, “the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and teachers of the law. They will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to the Gentiles, who will mock Him and spit on Him, flog Him and kill Him. Three days later He will rise.”

Mark 14:27-30  “You will all fall away,” Jesus told them, “for it is written: “‘I will strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered.’ But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.” Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I will not.” “I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “today–yes, tonight–before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown Me three times.”

John 2:19-22  Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days.”  The Jewish leaders replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple and You are going to raise it in three days?”  But the temple He had spoken of was His body.  After He was raised from the dead, His disciples recalled what He had said. Then they believed the Scripture, even the Word that Jesus had spoken…

The Lord’s Resurrection Has Always Been The Crucial Issue
John 10:17-20  Therefore doth My Father love Me, because I lay down My life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of My Father. There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings. Many of them said, He hath a devil and is mad; why hear ye Him?

Christ’s Resurrection Is Based In Eyewitness Accounts
1 Corinthians 15:5-8  …He was seen of Peter, then by the twelve: After that, He was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.  After that, He was seen of James; then of all the apostles. Last of all He was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

Luke 16:19-31
There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.  At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’ “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
“Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’ “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.'”

Your Personal Salvation Depends On His Resurrection
Romans 10:8-11  “The Word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” this is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame!”
