The Message of the Cross
The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing…

The Cross of Jesus Is God’s Sermon
1st Corinthians 1:18-20   The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

The Message of The Cross Is Our Message
1st Corinthians 1 :21-25  In the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know Him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength…

The Message of the Cross is Central
Revelation 5:6  I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as if it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

The Message of the Cross is Eternal
Revelation 13:7-9  He (Antichrist) was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them. And he (Antichrist) was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast–all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world. He who has an ear, let him hear.

The Message of The Cross Is the Focus of Our Praise
Revelation 5:9  …they sang a new song, saying, “Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation…”

The Message of the Cross Is Prophetic
John 1:29  The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world!

Revelation 19:10

The Message of the Cross is Foundational
1st Corinthians 15:3-4  I delivered to you that which is of first importance that which I also received (as first importance), that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

The Message of The Cross Was Jesus’ Purpose In Coming
John 12:27-33  Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, ‘ Father, save Me from this hour? But for this purpose I came to this hour.  “Father, glorify Thy name!” There came a voice out of heaven: “I have both glorified It, and will glorify It again!” The multitude therefore, who stood by and heard it, were saying that it had thundered; others were saying, ” An angel has spoken to Him.”

The Message of The Cross Draws Sinners To Christ
John 12:27-33  Jesus answered, “This voice has not come for My sake, but for your sakes. Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world shall be cast out. When I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to Myself.”  He was saying this to indicate the kind of death by which He was to die.
