Why Did Jesus Have to Die?
2nd Corinthians 5:19 …God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them & He has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
In His Humanity Even Jesus Queried It
“My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me.” Going a little farther, He fell with His face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.” Matthew 26:38-39
To Fulfill the Father’s Will
Isaiah 53:10 …it was the will of the Lord to crush Him; He has put Him to grief; when His soul makes an offering for guilt, He shall see His offspring; He shall prolong His days; the will of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.
To Destroy the Work of Satan
1st John 3:8 …the devil has been sinning from the beginning, the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
To Free Us From Religious Requirements
Gal. 2:16 “ . . . by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified.”
Gal. 2:21 …if righteousness comes through the Law, (religious efforts) then Christ died needlessly.”
To Remove the Curse That Was On Us
Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, (He) having become a curse FOR us—because it is written that, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.”
To Condemn Sin
Romans 8:3-4 What the Law could not do, weak as it was because of our flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh (Humanity) and as an offering for sin, He (God) condemned sin in the flesh, (Jesus’ Body) so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
To Restore Relationship With God

To Provide Spiritual Sustenance for Us
John 6:27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food that endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.
Only Belief In Jesus Can Save You
John 6:28-29 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” (the religious requirements) Jesus answered, “This is the work of God, (what He requires of us) that you believe in Him whom He sent!”
Colossians 2:10-14 …you are complete in Him, Who is the Head of all principality and power. In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, Who raised Him from the dead. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us, He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross!
