God Wants People To Know Who He Is
Exodus 10:1-2 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart & the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these miraculous signs of Mine among them that you may tell your children & grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians & how I performed My signs among them, & that you may know that I AM YHWH.”
Spiritual Hardness Is Due To Stubbornness
Exodus 10:3 So Moses & Aaron went to Pharaoh & said to him, “This is what LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
Proverbs 29:1
Refusal To Obey The Command of God Results In Judgement
Exodus 10:4-6 If you refuse to let them go, I will bring locusts into your country tomorrow. They will cover the face of the ground so that it cannot be seen. They will devour what little you have left after the hail, including every tree that is growing in your fields. They will fill your houses & those of all your officials & all the Egyptians–something neither your fathers nor your forefathers have ever seen from the day they settled in this land till now.'” Then Moses turned & left Pharaoh.
Political Reality Changes The Most Stubborn
Exodus 10:7-8 Pharaoh’s officials said to him, “How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the people go, so that they may worship (YAHWEH) THE LORD their God! Do you not yet realize that Egypt is ruined?!” Then Moses & Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. “Go, worship YAHWEH your God,” he said. “But just who will be going?”
Satan’s Intent for God’s People Is Division
Exodus 10:9-11 Moses answered, “We will go with our young & old, with our sons & daughters, & with our flocks & herds, because we are to celebrate a festival to YAHWEH.” Pharaoh said, “The LORD be with you if I let you go, along with your women & children! Clearly you are bent on evil. No! Have only the men go; & worship YAHWEH, since that’s what you have been asking for.” Then Moses & Aaron were driven out of Pharaoh’s presence.
God Commands Nature
Exodus 10:12-15 YHWH said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over Egypt so that locusts will swarm over the land & devour everything growing in the fields, everything left by the hail.” So Moses stretched out his staff over Egypt, & YHWH made an east wind blow across the land all that day & all that night. By morning the wind had brought the locusts they invaded all Egypt & settled down in every area of the country in great numbers. Never before had there been such a plague of locusts, nor will there ever be again. They covered all the ground until it was black. They devoured all that was left after the hail–everything growing in the fields & the fruit on the trees. Nothing green remained on tree or plant in all the land of Egypt.
Judgement Can Be Removed
Exodus 10:16-19 Then Pharaoh called for Moses & Aaron in haste; he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, & against you. Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, entreat YHWH your God, that HE may take away from me this death. He went out from Pharaoh, & entreated YHWH. YHWH turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, & cast them into the Red Sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.
Darkness Results Of Rejecting God’s Word
Exodus 10:20-23 But YHWH hardened Pharaoh’s heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go. YHWH said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven & there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days: They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings…
There Is No Compromise In Worship
Exodus 10:24-26 Pharaoh called unto Moses, & said, “Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks & your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.” Moses said, “Thou must give us also sacrifices & burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God. Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we arrive.”
