The Resurrection of Life

I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives & believes in Me will never die!

Do you believe this?” John 11: 25 & 26

The Resurrection Is Supernatural
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. Matthew 28:1-4

Disciples Get To Witness Resurrection
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, Who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples: He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him. Now I have told you.” Matthew 28:5-7

The Resurrection Dispels Fear & Superstition
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell His disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” He said. They came to Him, clasped His feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see Me.” Matthew 28: 8-10

Resurrection Is Not Readily Believed
When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. Luke 24:9-11

YOU Need To Check Out the Resurrection
Peter and John started for the tomb. Both were running, but John outran Peter and reached the tomb first. John bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb…John 20:3-6

How Much Evidence Do You Need?
He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen.  Finally John, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.) Then the disciples went back to where they were staying. John 20:7-10

The Resurrection Is THE Source of Joy
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After He said this, He showed them His hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.  John 20:19-20

The Resurrection Offers Peace & The Fullness Of The Spirit Of Peace
Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you.” And with that He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” John 20:21-23

Is Seeing Believing?
Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in His hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe!” John 20:24-25

Doubt Spoils Belief
A week later His disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then He said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” John 20:26-28

Belief Is Faith In Things Unseen!
Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”  Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not recorded in this book.   These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His Name! John 20:29-31

Hebrews 11:1  Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

John 20:30 & 31  Stop doubting and believe!  …blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.
