Christmas Promised
…and in His name all oppression shall cease!

The Promised One Was Eagerly Anticipated By God’s People
John 1:40-41  Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah”

John 1:45  Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law, about whom the prophets also wrote–Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

Luke 3:15  The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Christ.

John 1:25  The Pharisees questioned John, “Why do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

John 4:25-26  The woman said, “I know that Messiah is coming, and when He comes, He will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am He.”

The Promised One Was Likened Unto Moses
Deuteronomy 18:14-19  The people you dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery and divination. But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so. The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to Him …The Lord has said to me: “…I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put My words in His mouth, He will tell them everything I command Him. If anyone does not listen to My words that the Prophet speaks in My name, I Myself will call him to account!

The Promised One’s Teaching Is God’s Teaching!
John 8:28  Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am the One I claim to be and that I do nothing on My own but speak just what the Father has taught Me.

John 8:45-47 …because I tell the truth, you do not believe me!  Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

John 12:49 …I did not speak of My own accord, but the Father who sent Me commanded Me what to say and how to say it.

John 12:50  I know that His command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told Me to say.”

The Promised One Is God’s Ultimate Expression To Us
Hebrews 1:1-2  In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, Whom He appointed Heir of all things and through Whom He made the universe.

The Promised One Wields Total Authority!
Genesis 49:10  The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until He comes to Whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is His.

Numbers 24:17  I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near. A Star will come out of Jacob; a Scepter will rise out of Israel. He will crush the foreheads of Moab, the skulls of all the sons of Sheth.

The Promised One’s Rule Will Be Universal
Psalm 72:8-11  He will rule from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth. The desert tribes will bow before Him and His enemies will lick the dust. The kings of Tarshish and of distant shores will bring tribute to Him; the kings of Sheba and Seba will present Him gifts. All kings will bow down to Him and all nations will serve Him.

The Promised One’s Power Destroys The Power of The Devil
Genesis 3:15  I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will crush your head, you will strike His heel.

Hebrews 2:14  Since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death–that is, the devil.

1 John 3:8  …The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.

John 12:31-33  Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. When I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to myself.” He said this to show the kind of death He was going to die.

Colossians 2:15  …having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

The Promised One Promises Salvation
Genesis 22:13-14  Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place the Lord Will Provide.

Zechariah 3:9b  …I will remove the sin of this land in a single day!

Daniel 9:24  Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy.

Daniel 9:26  After the sixty-two ‘sevens’, the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing….

1 Timothy 2:5-6  …there is One God and One Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all men—this testimony was given in its proper time.

Hebrews 9:26  …He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

1 John 2:2  He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world!

The Promised One Promises Worldwide Blessing
Genesis 12:3  –I will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you I will curse; all peoples on earth will be blessed through you!

Genesis 22:18  …through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed Me.

Galatians 4:4-5  …when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.

Romans 8:19-21  The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the One who subjected it, in promise that creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God!
