Attitude – Philippians 2
…your attitude should be the SAME as that of Christ Jesus…

Relationship To The Lord Improves All Relationships
Philippians 2:1-2  If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness & compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit & purpose.

Value Other People As People For Whom Christ Died
Philippians 2:3-4  Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

The Goal Of The Christian Life Is To Become Christlike
Philippians 2:5  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus…

LET THIS MIND…by implication to be (mentally) disposed towards (…to earnestly seek a certain direction i.e. to choose); to interest oneself in (with concern or obedience)- to set the affection on, (to be like, to be of the same mind) – – Strong’s Greek & Hebrew Dictionary

Christ’s Nature IS God’s Nature
Philippians 2:6  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God…

John 1:14  The Word became flesh & made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One & Only, Who came from the Father, full of grace & truth.

Colossians 1:15  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Colossians 2:9 …in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

John 17:6a  I have revealed You to those whom You gave Me out of the world…

God’s Nature Is Servanthood
Philippians 2:7  But made Himself of no reputation & took upon Himself the form of a servant…

Becoming Human Was Obedience To God And Servanthood To Us
Philippians 2:8  And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

IN the original temptation we (humans) were tempted to become “like God” (Genesis 3:5)—but in this passage He “God” became not just “like” us but became human as we ourselves ARE & became the sin that we inherited when we ate the forbidden fruit! Therefore allowing us to become truly Godlike in Christ!

Obedience To God’s Will Is Life
Hebrews 10:4-10  It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. So, when Christ came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You prepared for me; with burnt offerings & sin offerings You were not pleased. Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about Me in the scroll—I have come to do Your will, My God.’ ” First He said, “Sacrifices & offerings, burnt offerings & sin offerings You did not desire, nor were You pleased with them”…Then He said, “Here I am, I have come to do Your will.” …& by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all!
