Biblical Fatherhood
Malachi 4:5-6   I will send you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.

A Father Must Bring His Child To Jesus
Mark 9:20-24  They brought him to Jesus…when the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?” “From childhood,” he answered.  “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!”  “‘If You can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for him who believes.”  Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

A Father Must Pray For His Child
Mark 9:25-29  When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the evil spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again!”  The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.”  But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.  After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked Him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”  He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.”

A Father Must Instruct His Children  In The Ways of The Lord
Genesis 18:17-19  The Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?  Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him.  For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.”

A Father Must Model The Ways of God To His Family
Deuteronomy 32:46-47a  Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. They are not just idle words for you–they are your life.

A Father Must Provide A Spiritual Inheritance
Psalms 103:17-18  But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children’s children– with those who keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts.

A Father Should Seek The Blessing of the Lord For His Children
Matthew 19:13-15  Little children were brought to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them.  Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” When He had placed His hands on them, He blessed them…

A Father Must Provide for His Family
1st Timothy 5:8  If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Deuteronomy 11:18-21
Fix these words of Mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the Lord swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.
