Biblical Motherhood
Sing, ye barren woman, who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy!

To Strive For True Motherhood Is Spiritual
Galatians 4:22-26  Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise. These things are figurative: The women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother

Spiritual Motherhood is Eternal & Prolific
Galatians 4:27   It is written: “Be glad, barren woman, you who never bore a child; shout for joy and cry aloud, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband. Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left…”

Children of the Promise Are Born By The Power Of The Spirit!
Galatians 4:28-31  You, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise. The son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. What does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.” Therefore we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman!

Jesus Priority Was God’s Family
Mark 3:20-21  Jesus entered a house, a crowd gathered, so He & His disciples weren’t able to eat. Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived to take charge of Him, saying, “He is out of His mind!” Standing outside, they sent someone in to call Him; They told Him, “Your mother and brothers are outside” …“Who are My mother and My brothers?” He asked. Then He looked at those seated around Him & said, “My mother and brothers are these who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”

A Tension Exists Between Family & Ministry
John 7:3-7   Jesus’ brothers said to Him, “You ought to leave here and go to Judea, so that Your disciples may see the miracles You do. No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since You are doing these things, show Yourself to the world.” For even His own brothers did not believe in Him.

Honoring Ones Parent Guarantees Health & Success
Ephesians 6:1-3  Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.  Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth.

Spiritual Children Are Born Through Spiritual Instruction
Ephesians 6:4  Parents, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Spiritual Instruction Is Parents Educating Their Children In The Word of God
Deuteronomy 6:6-7  These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. “You shall teach them diligently to your children and talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.”

The Children Of Promise Belong To The Author of Promise
John 10:27-30  My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;  and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.  My Father, Who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.  I and the Father are One!

Biblical Parenthood Is Having God as Our Father!
1 John 3:1-3  Behold, what manner of love the Father hath given unto us, that we should be called the sons of God!  Therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.  Beloved, we are the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. Everyone that has this hope purifies himself, even as He is pure.
