Palm Sunday —A Promise Kept
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. Zechariah 9:9
Be Generous & The Lord Will Be Generous To You
Matthew 21:1-3 Approaching Jerusalem they came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with her; untie them, and bring them to Me. If anyone says something to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”
Meekness Is God’s Strength
Matthew 21:4-5 Now this took place so that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold your King is coming to you, Gentle, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’
Galatians 5:23 …gentleness, self-control, against such things there is no law.
Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Colossians 3:12 …as God’s chosen people, holy & dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness & patience.
Titus 3:2 …slander no one, be peaceable & considerate, show true humility toward all men.
1 Timothy 6:11 …pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance & gentleness.
Matthew 11:29 Take My yoke upon you & learn from Me, for I am gentle & humble in heart & you will find rest for your souls.
1 Peter 3:4 (your beauty) should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle & quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
2 Timothy 2:24 …the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be gentle to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.
Isaiah 57:15 This is what the High and Lofty One says– He Who lives forever, Whose name is Holy: “I live in a High and Holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.
Isaiah 66:2b This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at MY WORD.
Obedience To His Word Brings Glory to The Lord
Matthew 21:6-8 The disciples went & did just as Jesus had directed them, & brought the donkey & the colt, & laid on them their garments, on which He sat. The multitude spread their garments in the road, & others were cutting branches from the trees, & spreading them in the road.
When We Give Our Lives to the Lord We Witness God’s Supernatural Power
Luke 19:37 As He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen…
Our Worship Attracts Others To The Lord
Matthew 21:9-11 The multitudes going before Him, and those who followed after were crying out, saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the Highest!” When He had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, Who is this? The multitudes were saying, This is the Prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee.
The Visitation of The Lord Is NOW
Luke 19:41-44 When He approached the city He wept over it, saying, “If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. The days shall come upon you when your enemies will throw up a bank before you & surround you & hem you in on every side & will level you to the ground & your children within you & they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”
2nd Corinthians 6:1-2 We then, as workers together with Him plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
God Wants All People To Have Access To Him
Matthew 21:12-13 Jesus entered the temple & cast out all those who were buying & selling in the temple & overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those who were selling doves. He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer (for the nations) but you are making it a robbers’ den!”
Those Who Come To Him Receive Sight!
Matthew 21:14 …the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.
John 9:39 Jesus said, “For judgement I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”
The Critics Are Always Amongst Us
Matthew 21:15-16 When the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became indignant, and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?”
Babies & Creation Praise Him When We Won’t!
Matthew:21:17 Jesus said to them, “Yes (I hear them); have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babes Thou hast prepared praise for Thyself’?”
Luke19:39-40 The Pharisees in the multitude said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” And He answered and said, “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!”
Your Response to Jesus Determines His Response Towards You!
Matthew 21:17 And He left them; and went out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.
The Invitation of The Lord Is Open To All
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
