Seek & Ye Shall Find
Matthew 7:7—And they saw His star in the east…
The Wise Seek for The Lord
Matthew 2:1-2 When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men came from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen His star in the east, and are here to worship him.
Seeking for God Troubles those who Don’t
Matthew 2:3-4 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
Ungodly Leaders are Ignorant of God’s Word
Matthew 2:4-6 So he gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, and demanded of them where Christ should be born. They said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, Thou Bethlehem, in the land of Judea, art not the least among the princes of Judah: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule My people Israel.
Matthew 22:29-30 Jesus answered and said, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, or the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
Many Feign a Love for God
Matthew 2:7-8 Then Herod, secretly called the wise men, and enquired of them diligently when the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when you have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
True Seekers are Aided by God
Matthew 2:9-10 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, until it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
Where the Lord is Found Worship Abounds
Matthew 2:11 When they came into the house, they saw the young child with Mary His mother, and fell down, and worshipped Him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
False Leadership is Destructive
Matthew 2:12-13 Being warned by God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. When they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and wait there until I bring you word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
Obedience to God Fulfills Prophecy
Matthew 2:14-15 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
Disobedience to God Fulfills Prophecy
Matthew 2:16-18 When he saw that he was outwitted by the wise men, Herod was furious, and sent soldiers to slay all the children that were in Bethlehem, and surrounding areas, two years old and under, according to the time which he had heard from the wise men. Then was fulfilled Jeremiah the prophet, saying, In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
God is Sovereign Over Political Power
Matthew 2:19-23 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life. And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
