The Exodus of God’s People Pt 11
God’s Intent Is To Call People Out To Worship Him
Exodus 9:13 The LORD said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh & say to him, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let My people go, that they may worship Me…
1st Peter 2:9-10
There Is NO ONE like GOD
Exodus 9:14 …or this time I will send the full force of My plagues against you & against your officials & your people, so you may know that there is no one like Me in all the earth!
Exodus 15:11; 2nd Samuel 7:22; Psalm 86:8; Jeremiah 10:7; Isaiah 45:5; Isaiah 46:4-5; Isaiah 45:6; Isaiah 45:21b; Isaiah 46:9; Isaiah 40:21-31
God Controls Himself Even In Judgement
Exodus 9:15 …For by now I could have stretched out My hand & struck you & your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth!!!
God’s Power & God’s Name Will Be Revered
Exodus 9:16-17 But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you My power & that My Name might be proclaimed in all the earth. Yet you still set yourself against My people & will not let them go.
God Warns Before He Judges
Exodus 9:18-19 Therefore, at this time tomorrow I will send the worst hailstorm that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded till now. Give an order now to bring your livestock & everything you have in the field to a place of shelter, because the hail will fall on every man & animal that has not been brought in & is still out in the field, & they will die.
Some People Heed God’s Word & Some Do Not
Exodus 9:20-21 The officials of Pharaoh who feared the Word of the LORD hurried to bring their slaves & their livestock inside. But those who ignored the Word of the LORD left their slaves & livestock in the field.
Hail Is Not A Blessing
Exodus 9:22-25 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that hail will fall all over Egypt–on men and animals and on everything growing in the fields of Egypt.” When Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky, the LORD sent thunder and hail, and lightning flashed down to the ground… So the LORD rained hail on the land of Egypt; hail fell and lightning flashed back and forth. It was the worst storm in all the land of Egypt since it had become a nation. Throughout Egypt hail struck everything in the fields–both men and animals; it beat down everything growing in the fields and stripped every tree.
Hail Will Be The First & Final Judgement
Revelation 8:7 The first angel sounded his trumpet, & there came hail & fire mixed with blood & it was hurled down upon the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, & all the green grass was burned up.
Revelation 16:21 From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible!
God’s People Do Not Suffer God’s Wrath
Exodus 9:26 The only place it did not hail was the land of Goshen, where the Israelites were.
Ist Thessalonians 5:8-10; 1st Peter 4:17
Forced Repentance Usually Isn’t Real
Exodus 9:27-30 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses & Aaron. “This time I have sinned,” he said to them. “The LORD is in the right, I and my people are in the wrong. Pray to the LORD, for we have had enough thunder & hail. I will let you go; you don’t have to stay any longer.”
The Evidence FOR God Is OVERWHELMING!
Exodus 9:27-30 Moses replied, “When I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands in prayer to the LORD (YHWH). The thunder will stop & there will be no more hail, so you may know that the earth is the LORD’s (YHWH). But I know that you & your officials still do not fear the LORD (YHWH) God.”
The Prayers of God’s People For You Can Ease Your Suffering
Exodus 9:31-35 (The flax and barley were destroyed, since the barley had headed and the flax was in bloom. The wheat and spelt, however, were not destroyed, because they ripen later.) Moses left Pharaoh & went out of the city. He spread out his hands toward the LORD; the thunder & hail stopped, & the rain no longer poured down on the land.
James 5:16
Hardness of the Heart Against God Is Human Nature
Exodus 9:34-35 When Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he sinned again: He and his officials hardened their hearts. So Pharaoh’s heart was hard and he would not let the Israelites go, just as the LORD had said through Moses.
Jeremiah 17:9
