The Promise of ChristmasAdvent Part 3

Christmas Is Promised In The Eternal Counsels And Plans Of The Father And The Son
Isaiah 42:5-7  Thus says the Lord God, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread out the earth and its offspring, Who gives breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk in it, I am the Lord, I have called you in righteousness, I will hold you by the hand and watch over you, I will appoint you as a covenant to the people, as a light to the nations, to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the dungeon, and those  who dwell in darkness from the prison.

The Son Of God Pointed To This Same Scripture As Proof Of His Identity
Matthew 11:2-6  When John was in prison he heard of the works of Christ, and sent word by his disciples, asking Him, “Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?” Jesus answered them, “Go and report to John what you hear and see: the blind receive sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them, blessed is he who keeps from stumbling over Me.”

The First Hint Of Christmas Is In The Garden Of Eden
Genesis 3:15  I will put enmity between you and the woman, between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise Him on the heel. (God speaking to the Serpent)

Jesus Christ Referred To Biblical Prophesies Concerning His Coming
Luke 24:44  These are My Words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about  Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.

The Apostles Referred To The Old Testament Prophesies Of Christmas
1 Peter 1:10-12  As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, made careful search and inquiry, seeking to know what person or time the  Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.

It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven– things into which angels long to look.

The Writings Of Moses And Of The Prophets Contain Specific References To The Coming Christmas
Deuteronomy 18:15 (Moses Speaking) The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you must listen to Him!

Christ’s Disciples Believed The Biblical Writings Concerning Christ, And Staked Their Personal Futures On It
John 1:45  Philip found Nathaniel and told him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

The Promise Of Christmas Is Inferred In The Abrahamic Covenant
Genesis 12:3  I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

Galatians 3:16  Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed.  He does not say, “And to seeds,” as referring to many, but rather to one, “And to your seed,” that is, Christ.

Christmas Is Seen In Jacob’s Final Prophecies Over The Twelve Patriarchs Of Israel
Genesis 49:10  The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and to Him  shall be the obedience of the peoples.

Christmas Was Promised To King David
2nd Samuel 7:12-13  When your days are complete and you lie  down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, I will establish His kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of His kingdom forever!

Jeremiah 23:5  “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “When I shall raise up for David a Righteous Branch; He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice  and righteousness in the land.”

The Apostles Referred To The Promise Of Christmas As A Gift To The Gentiles
Acts 13:47-48  “For thus the Lord has commanded us, I have placed You as a light for the Gentiles, that You should bring salvation to the end of the earth. When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.”

A Gift Must Be Received
John 1:9-13  There was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.  He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
